Yin Yoga:

Yin Yoga urges us to slow down and go deeper. Yin is a style of yoga in which floor-based postures are held for an extended period of time (5 minutes or more per pose is typical). In a fast paced vinyasa class we often miss connecting with the posture, breath and deeper muscles. Yin yoga applies emphasis to slowing down and holding passive stretch-like postures. This in turn opens the connective tissues of the body, tendons, fascia and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation and flexibility.

Yin yoga gives students the time and space to cultivate a connection with the inner self. This style of yoga is the perfect complement to any active yoga practices or exercise, helping to increase flexibility, range of motion, and overall well being. In this class, the yin practice will be coupled with a meditation, as the two modalities serve to enhance one another. Yin yoga is suitable for all levels of practice.

Yoga Nidra:

Yoga Nidra is the art of conscious relaxation. Also known as Yogic Sleep, Nidra is a state of consciousness similar to the process of drifting off to sleep.  It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of their inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. Yoga Nidra is a powerful practice where the body and mind are liberated from their tensions and anxiety, allowing deep healing to take place on the emotional, mental, and physical planes.

Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness.
