Workshop Descriptions

Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra Workshop (Nov 19th 1:30pm - 3:30pm):

Join us for a peaceful Saturday afternoon workshop to indulge in the quiet and gentle practice of Yin Yoga and soak up the transformative power of Yoga Nidra.

We’ll begin with 60 minutes of Yin Yoga: long, slow stretching intended to open up joints and connective tissues.  We will also practice meditative breathing while the physical body opens and allows energy to be unblocked. We will end this physical practice with a deeply soothing sound bath with crystal singing bowls.

The 2nd hour of class will be the practice of Yoga Nidra, or Dream Yoga, where you will experience a state of extreme relaxation through guided meditations intended to get you to the state in between consciousness and sleeping.

Please bring a mat (or you may rent one from Solar Plexus Yoga) and water bottle. Please dress comfortably in loose fitting clothing and feel free to bring along a pillow, blanket, eye pillow or anything to help you achieve optimal comfort during Yoga Nidra.

Participants of this workshop can continue to explore Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra in the upcoming “Bathing in Stillness” 3-week class series for a discounted rate of 10 percent off.

Minfulness for Everyday Life (Sep 30th and Oct 1st 1:30pm - 3:30pm):

This will include basic seated meditation (cushions provided) and instruction on mindful talking and listening, mindful eating, and mindful movement. Hustle & Flow with Lo:

The class is an hour long power vinyasa class that builds on traditional poses and postures mixed with free form movement, set to hip hop and R&B beats. Feel-good atmosphere to encourage exploration and connection to the mind and body. All levels and backgrounds welcome, GOOD VIBES only.

Creative Vinyasa:

An all levels class that  focuses on the basics of breath, postural alignment and developing a stronger mind/body connection. This unique class will lead students through sequences that develop flexibility by exploring range of movement, strength and core stability while maintaining playfulness throughout the class. Class is heated 80-85 degrees.

Yin Yoga:

Yin Yoga urges us to slow down and go deeper. Yin is a style of yoga in which floor-based postures are held for an extended period of time (5 minutes or more per pose is typical). In a fast paced vinyasa class we often miss connecting with the posture, breath and deeper muscles. Yin yoga applies emphasis to slowing down and holding passive stretch-like postures. This in turn opens the connective tissues of the body, tendons, fascia and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation and flexibility.

Yin yoga gives students the time and space to cultivate a connection with the inner self. This style of yoga is the perfect complement to any active yoga practices or exercise, helping to increase flexibility, range of motion, and overall well being. In this class, the yin practice will be coupled with a meditation, as the two modalities serve to enhance one another. Yin yoga is suitable for all levels of practice.

Yoga Nidra:

Yoga Nidra is the art of conscious relaxation. Also known as Yogic Sleep, Nidra is a state of consciousness similar to the process of drifting off to sleep.  It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of their inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. Yoga Nidra is a powerful practice where the body and mind are liberated from their tensions and anxiety, allowing deep healing to take place on the emotional, mental, and physical planes.

Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness.
